Transferring Text from a Word Processing Program into the ToL Easy Editor
- Log-in as a treehouse builder and choose to edit your treehouse.
- Go to step #2, Edit Page Content, and choose the link to compose text. (Note that in some treehouse forms there is more than one place where you can add text with the Easy Editor).
- On your computer open your treehouse file.
- Please save a copy of the word processing document as a text file so that all formatting that may interfere with display in the web browser will be eliminated. To do so do go to file, choose "save as" and select in the format box: text only with line breaks. If you don't save your file as text, any formatting, such as color and font size that you may have added to a word processing document will most likely cause problems in your treehouse page.
- Select and copy all of the text you want to transfer from the word processing document. tips for copying and pasting
- Now you must paste the text from your word processing file directly into the text box that is part of the ToL Easy Editor.
- After you have pasted the text, select text that you would like to format as lists, headers, etc. and choose the appropriate button in the treehouse HTML editor. If the HTML editor is not working (e.g. in Mac Safari or IE) you will need to format it with HTML.

Web editors write HTML code for you. The task you must complete if you have created your treehouse in a web editor is to:
- Log-in as a treehouse builder and choose to edit your treehouse.
- Go to step #2, Edit Page Content and choose the link to compose text. (Note that in some treehouse forms there is more than one place where you can add text with the Easy Editor).
- On your computer open your treehouse file. Select to view the HTML code of your file.
- Select and copy all of the text between the <body> and </body> tags and paste it into the treehouse data entry form's text section. Do not copy the body tags themselves. Please do not copy over the <head></head> tags or anything else that comes before or after the body tags. If you copy over more than what is between the body tags your page will not display properly in a web browser. tips for copying and pasting
- Now you must paste the text from your web editor into the treehouse text box. If the ToL Easy Editor is working in your browser, click on the HTML button of the Easy Editor's toolbar, and wait for the HTML source window to appear. Then paste your text into this window and click update. If the Easy Editor is not working (e.g. in Mac Safari or Mac IE) then you can simply paste your text directly into the text box.
- Once you have completed the transfer you can work on your treehouse using the Easy Editor.
- Please note that you will need to insert or re-insert images and other media by using the add images/media buttons of the ToL Easy editor, or if the editor is not working by using the ToL code for images and media.
