Libythea lepita

Introduction
Libythea lepita is sometimes considered to be a subspecies of Libythea celtis, but a recent revision of the genus (Kawahara 2006) has confirmed its status as a species. The species is found from India and Pakistan, east to China, Korea and Japan. The butterflies are found in rural landscapes where their host plants Celtis and Trema grow. Adult butterflies hibernate, and females lay their eggs singly on the buds of the host plant.
