Introduction

Chrysochlorininae is a small subfamily of soldier flies found almost entirely in South America and the Australian region. The larvae of Chrysochlorina haterius have been collected in bromeliads and C. insularis has been collected in rotten bark (Woodley 2001).

Characteristics

Chrysochlorininae is distinguished by the presence of eight antennal flagellomeres, with an aristate last flagellomere, and by the absence of crossvein m-cu. None of these states are autapomorphic (Woodley 2001).
