Introduction
A widespread Old World genus, with representatives ranging from São Tomé (off west Africa) to Russia to India, the Philippines, Australia and the Solomon Islands. Division of the species by biogeography here probably does not reflect a natural division of the genus. Various authors subdivide Chilades into a number of smaller genera whose names are listed as synonyms here. Larvae feed on a variety of host plants, including cycads, and are attended by ants.
Other Names for Chilades
- Luthrodes
- Edales
- Freyeria
- Lachides
- Vernacular Names: Lime Blues and Grass Jewels
